what is fried hair?
People say their hair is "fried" when it has been overprocessed due to constant coloring, bleaching, sun exposure, or chlorine damage. Usually what happens is the cuticle lifts permanently, causing split ends.
The most common symptoms of fried hair:
Split ends
Overall or general breakage
uncontrollable frizz
Over porous tresses that feel spongy
Dry, straw-like texture.
lack of shine
Difficult to manage
Main causes of fried hair
Improper washing, drying and styling.
Chemical treatment damage (hair color, bleach, relaxers, straighteners)
Excessive or improper use of some styling products
Overexposure to sun, wind, environmental toxins.
Heat styling tools (hot rollers, blow dryers, hot irons)
Faulty hairstyling tools ( sharp edged brushes, combs, hair rollers, pins, clips )
Too frequent back combing, teasing.
lack of proper maintenance ( regular trims).
Best way to "fix Fried hair"
Cut or Trim it off - it just cant be repaired or restored, once hair has gotten to a certain stage of damage you may be able to mask the problems but cant restore it.
Camouflage it - There are great clip-in hair extension options available today that can instantly mask damaged tresses.
Shampoo less often - Shampoo every couple of days. If you feel you must shampoo everyday either use gentle shampoos or dilute your shampoos to minimize the potential to dry out your strands from harsh shampoo chemicals and the water.
Deep condition - a deep conditioner wont completely reverse any damage, it will only make easier to detangle and provide necessary moisture balance.
Avoid products with too much alcohol or silicone
Drink plenty of water
Eat right and take your hair vitamins.
